Wisdom teeth are the third molars that usually emerge between the ages of 17 and 25. Wisdom tooth extraction may be done by a dentist or an oral surgeon. To prevent potential future problems, some dentists and oral surgeons recommend wisdom tooth extraction even if impacted teeth aren’t currently causing problems.

At Elation Dental, we can treat any immediate pains – often requiring antibiotics and sometimes analgesics. A dental xray will show us the exact problem with your wisdom teeth. We are able to handle many extractions of wisdom teeth. Howeer, some extreme cases (including those requiring hospital based surgery) will need to be referred to a local oral surgeon.

Removing wisdom teeth without going to hospital – what are the steps at Elation Dental?

The procedure for wisdom tooth removal involves numbing the area around the tooth with a local anesthetic. The dentist may then make an incision in the gum tissue. They will then remove anything that blocks access to the tooth root. The dentist will then gently separate the tissue connecting the tooth to the bone and then remove the tooth. Afterward, they will clean the site of the removed tooth of any debris from the tooth or bone. Finally, they will stitch up the wound if necessary.

Healing and recovery from wisdom tooth removal

Aftercare for wisdom tooth removal includes taking over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen to alleviate pain. Swelling or bleeding may occur for a few days after removal. We will provide instructions on how to care for your mouth after surgery.
